Dates at the Museum: April 2023 – September 2023
For many decades, Chinese immigrants used the expression “Fallen leaves, Return to roots” to express the feeling that when one became old, one would return home to China. As time went by, and many Chinese were able to participate more fully here, the new phrase, “Touching ground, Putting down roots,” gained currency.
The exhibition Touching Ground, Putting Down Roots: Chinese in Berkeley was open at the museum from April 2023- September, 2023.

Toyna – Two thumbs up and all my deepest thanks for mounting this wonderful web site! The excellent exhibit had so much to see that I regretted that I hadn’t enough time to absorb it all. Now I can return to it and see and hear the program in depth. I can only image how much work this must have been and I want you to know how much it’s appreciated.
